What is the
Bruno Invitational?

Brown University Mock Trial is pleased to announce that this fall, we will once again be hosting the Bruno Invitational: a tournament specifically tailored towards high school students hoping to hone their Mock Trial skills in a competitive setting! Conceptualized by members of our program, the Bruno Invitational, will allow competitors to improve skills such as objections, courtroom presence, witnessing, and more while competing against other teams from across the country! Using a customized case written by members of our program, students will also receive feedback on their performance from members of a nationally-ranked collegiate Mock Trial program!

This year, we are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Columbia University Mock Trial, through which we'll be co-hosting two virtual high school tournaments using the same case this fall. The Bruno Invitational will take place October 4-5, and the Roar-ee Invitational (hosted by Columbia) will take place November 8-9.

No experience necessary! AMTA will provide you with a training session prior to the start of the tournament.

What is my role as a mock trial judge?

As a judge, you will watch aspiring attorneys present their skills as advocates, rule on objection arguments, and assess the credibility of witnesses. After each round, you'll have the opportunity to provide feedback and advice to the competitors. The high-level feedback that professionals such as you provide is critical for our students, many of whom have been practicing for this competition since this past August.

Can I earn CLE Credit?

Yes! Pursuant to RI MCLE Rule § 1.3.4, the MCLE shall grant one credit for members of the RI Bar for acting as a judge in a mock trial competition per MCLE reporting year.
