Class of 2026
John Lee
(President)
Originally from the state of California, and a transfer student from UCSD, John does in fact miss the beaches back home. To quote him, “the East Coast has no beach worth visiting.” Ouch. If you see him around, ask him about his hate to love arc with sushi, or about his musical and athletic prowess as both a cello and tennis player!
Siddharth Singh
In a desperate attempt to separate himself from the rest of Florida, Sid lives on the tropical island of Key West! When climate change strikes the island, he’ll be ready. Equipped with 15 years of swimming experience, he’ll be more than prepared to swim back to the mainland, even if unwillingly.
Jack Stein
A proud Massachusetts resident, Jack impresses judges with his quirky characters, whether that be as a Latvian pilot or a raspy mechanic. Jack also has an identical twin named Jason! We’re pretty sure Jason has never infiltrated our practices, but we might have to start paying closer attention. After all, Jason goes to college in Boston, which may be a bit too close for comfort.
Class of 2027
Ayla Kattler
(External Relations)
Originally from the sunny city of Los Angeles, Ayla (shockingly) doesn’t eat avocado toast, surf, or think she’s that superficial (though she’s gotten these questions before). When she’s not trying to convince a jury that she is in fact an accomplished MMA fighter, you can find her being kicked out of on-campus libraries.
Nick Kitahata
(External Relations)
Also from the sunny state of California, Nick enjoys biking and skiing in the great outdoors! When he’s not outside, you can find him (allegedly) engaging in silverware theft or sitting in a dorm basement watching a 49ers game!
Jonathan Lin
(Treasurer)
A Maryland man, Jonathan takes pride in watching Gordon Ramsay yell at home cooks and hotel owners alike! When he’s not watching his favorite culinary legend, you can probably find him feeding into his Diet Coke addiction. If you ask him about it, just know that he will swear by Diet Coke and normal Coke having different tastes.
Lily Young
A Jersey girl, Lily is an avid Taylor Swift fan, and if you’re not, you could say there might be some “bad blood.” In addition to being an aspiring half-marathon runner, Lily is also a bit of a childhood TV star! If you see her, ask her about her appearances on The Today Show!
Class of 2028
Ann Gray Golpira
(Ombudsperson)
Originally from Norfolk, Virginia, Ann Gray brings musical flare to BMT! She writes and records her own music (check her out on Spotify under Ann Gray), but if that wasn’t cool enough, she also used to run a math meme page at her high school! When she’s not excelling at music or math memes, you can find her playing Stardew Valley!
Wesley Horn
(Tournament Director)
From the great state of Oklahoma, Wesley is a “rabid” OU football fan. Beyond defending the honor of OU football, Wesley is also the “world’s number one defender of Chili’s” (self-described), and is more than prepared to fight anyone arguing that it is not the best restaurant to ever exist. Our final tidbit is that his favorite TV show is Bluey! In his words, “it was an ironic bit at first, and then it slowly became less ironic as the weeks went on.”
Priyanka Nambiar
(Communications Director)
Priyanka comes to BMT from Hershey, Pennsylvania (yes, the one with the chocolate). She even used to be a tour guide there, where she performed musical tours about the town and Milton Hershey’s life! When she’s not hating on Hershey’s Chocolate, you can usually find her on the stairmaster, drawing, dancing, or rewatching New Girl!
Talia Udelman
Although Talia is from Arizona (it’s a dry heat btw), she is cool as a cucumber in the courtroom. When not sobbing about memorization, she can be found enjoying nice walks along the beach and climbing various trees. Her agility goes beyond tree-climbing, though; she is also a trained parkour artist, so keep that in mind if you ever decide to chase her.
Michaela Hanson
Michaela currently resides in Prague, but she is an experienced world traveler! She has moved six times and is semi-fluent in five languages. When she’s not learning a new language, she loves binging TV shows, painting, reading, and obsessing over her many fandoms (ask her about Warrior Cats… just do it.)
Class of 2029
Chandler Geumbee Ahn
Originally from Seoul, Chandler is secretly not Chandler at all! Her real name sounds like Gumby, the green cartoon character, when Latinized, so she prefers to go by Chandler. She spends her time writing, searching for her second-favorite English word (plum has the #1 spot), and hating on libraries.
Kelly Ding
A southerner from College Station, Texas, Kelly is also a huge gym rat! She probably lifts more and runs faster than you. She adores playing the flute, reading fantasy novels, curating Spotify playlists, and everything mint chocolate chip flavored!
Serenity Hamilton
Serenity’s hometown is the wonderful Montclair, California, and she is quite the well-rounded musician. She’s been playing piano and the violin for over 8 years now (but, in her words, “not well”). Outside of her musical endeavors, you’ll find her playing Cookie Run and Cats n Soup!
Vanya Shah
A Short Hills, New Jersey native, Vanya is a multi-sport athlete! Outside of BMT, she enjoys playing lacrosse and soccer. Coffee and energy drink lovers should avoid her, though, as she really hates caffeine. Vanya emphasized that she is “willing to bully anyone who drinks caffeine right out of it.”
Jonathan Viene
Another Californian BMT-er (seriously, how many of you guys are there?), Jon hails from the suburban paradise of Riverside, CA, where he lives with his twin brother, Michael. Unfortunately for Vanya, he is Celsius’s #1 fan, but he also loves cooking, hitting the gym, skateboarding, thrifting, and generally being a performative male.
Class of 2025
Christopher Bianco ’25
Originally from Oregon, Christopher is a real outdoorsy dude! During a zombie apocalypse, he’s someone you’ll definitely want on your team. When not working on his closing statement, you could probably find him working on his engineering homework or playing DnD.
Abria Hamberg ’25
Originally from Virginia, Abria is also a proud member of Taylor Nation. When she wasn’t winning points as an expert witness on the stand, you could probably ask her to recount pretty much any song from any album and she’d be able to do so. I guess you could say she knows Taylor “all too well.”
Tara Hislip ’25
Tara is a New Jersey/Philly native who will gladly defend her home state from the haters. When she was not practicing a new accent for one of her character witnesses, Tara was known for “your mom” jokes (which often make no sense) and crying on cue at other members of the team.
Alex Lee ’25
Despite being a resident of the Boston area, Alex does not have a Boston accent. Instead, this competitor rakes in points as an expert witness, whether he was recounting an arrest in Taiwan, or deciding whether or not he should trust the government. When he was not excelling as a witness, he was an expert at spilling Ratty coffee all over himself.
Nicole Lugo ’25
Nicole is a Florida resident who is a jack of all trades. While she may be vertically challenged, she wore a ton of hats on BMT! She’s been an expert witness, character witness, and attorney, all in the same season! When she was not delivering an incredible closing argument, she was a girlboss in STEM; she even TA’d a differential equations course!
Helena Nashold ’25
A proud Midwesterner, Helena is from Wisconsin and lives in a famous 20-sided barn! No, we’re not kidding. She even raises chickens! Ideally, her chicken army would be able to defend her in case of a zombie apocalypse; that is, if she can increase the number of members to above four.
Aniyah Nelson ’25
Aniyah is not only from Ohio (unfortunately), but actually likes Ohio. While Aniyah was one of our best attorneys and raked in countless awards, she is better known for her claim to fame as a Minecraft YouTuber. Ask her about her channel, TheAniyahlator, known for her Bed Wars prowess.
Andrew Rovinsky ’25
If there’s one person to talk to about movies, it’s Andrew. With over a thousand films listed on his Letterboxd, he’s definitely someone worth discussing your favorite movies with, even if he rates The Hunger Games: Catching Fire criminally low. How he manages to watch that many movies and be a fantastic BMT attorney is a mystery to us all.
Class of 2024
Kiara Moon ’24
Kiara, a star lawyer from the great state of New Jersey, took BMT by storm during her freshman year. Starting on the A team, outscoring all of the older attorneys at regional competitions, and finding theory-driving holes in the case, Kiara did it all. If you approach her, be sure to start the conversation with “what’s good,” or if you want to hear about her crazy food takes, ask her how she prefers her pizza.
Class of 2023
Rachel Fuller ’23
From the Lone Star State, Rachel concentrated in International and Public Affairs and Computer Science. That being said, she probably had you convinced that she was a Canadian Studies concentrator for several months. During her time on the team, Rachel dazzled judges with her amazing witnesses, whether she was an Austrian cow farmer or the very guilty friend of a bar owner with arson tendencies. When she’s not coding or tricking new BMT members, you can probably find her rock climbing!
Arun Kavishwar ’23
Originally from the faraway land of, well, Massachusetts, Arun is perhaps one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet (unless you’re fellow BMT alum Raffaele Moore ’22). A Computer Science concentrator and academic weapon, Arun also completed a Master’s degree program while he was at Brown! When he wasn’t delivering a closing argument and mispronouncing the word “marina,” you’d probably find him playing Dota (rumor has it that he was one of the best players Brown had to offer), or throwing things at Raffa.
Class of 2022
Michael Chandler ’22.5
From the great city of San Diego, CA, Michael concentrated in Health and Human Biology and Computer Science, and had a penchant for dramatic closings. Michael dedicated most of his time in college (outside of school work and cleaning his room, of course) to working on Mock, and how could he not? Mock is Michael’s life passion; he attorneyed ever since he put the Big Bad Wolf on trial in a first grade mock trial competition. A big fan of Uber Eats, a part of Michael has always wanted to go to culinary school, so you might catch him baking sweet potato pies or vegan pasta.
Alex Leake ’22
A southern belle from an unspecified northern Virginian town about 30 minutes from DC, Alex loves the fourth of July, interesting documentaries, and being crazy-amente. Outside of hand modeling for esteemed AMTA judges, you can find Alex interviewing for BPR, taking mirror selfies, grinding in the Blue Room, or taking shots of espresso at Coffee Exchange.
Raffaele Moore ’22
Unfortunately not actually a furry, Raffa was a rock for the team. Forced into leadership roles early in his mock trial career, Raffa stepped up to become one of the top attorneys and mentors on the team. He concentrated in IAPA and history (and even earned an MPA while he was here!), and was one of the best educated on the team about others’ cultures and backgrounds. Raffa hails from New Mexico and he’s extremely proud of it! Most days, you’d probably find him in a shirt with his state’s name or sports team proudly displayed on it.
Dora Nathans ’22
Lower Merion High School’s very own lead attorney for the 2017-2018 season, Dora was a Computer Science concentrator who managed to rack up an Outstanding Witness award for her phenomenal performance as a slightly under-qualified primatologist. Outside of Mock, Dora was involved with Innovation Dojo and TA’d for CS15. Other than doubling as a witness/attorney, Dora’s other notable doubles included being double jointed and having double the amount of influence over the Doracracy.
Lauren Parker ’22
The best “Boss Babe CEO” in the entire program, Lauren Parker stepped onto the scene in the spring of 2021 and almost immediately nailed an “Outstanding Witness” award at Regionals. Friendly and always sure to make you laugh, Lauren was an excellent teammate and an incredibly hard worker. A proud resident of 257 Thayer during the year, you probably would have spotted Lauren chilling on the Main Green or throwing the best parties on campus.
Class of 2021
Matt Bailey ’21
Hailing from the great state of Georgia – where the peaches are sweet and the pants are pleated – Matt Bailey is too good for this world. He was a whiz-kid witness wonder and he had the awards to prove it. In addition to slaying at fake court, Matt has worked for a New York super PAC and perfected a RISD-worthy Instagram aesthetic. At Brown, Matt edited for BDH, BJWA, and numerous other prestigious acronyms. Oh, and did we mention his music taste is definitely better than yours?
Peter Deegan ’21
Peter Deegan was a proud Iowan, an extraordinary witness, and a gem of a human being. After dazzling the Midwest and nation with his athletic, musical, and Model UN abilities, Peter chose to take his talents eastward. This young political maverick’s got a passion for reforming immigration, criminal justice, campaign finance, and the shortage of puns in America. Peter tells corny jokes using only the finest, Iowan corn. If he isn’t working with Brown Democrats or College Democrats of RI, Peter could usually be found holding a drum, frisbee, or TI-84 calculator that doesn’t belong to him.
Caleb Eickmann ’21
Coming to Brown from the cold tundra that is the state of Maine, Caleb was a brilliant biochemistry and French concentrator and an actual angel. He wasn’t afraid to shake things up on BMT, as the only known attorney to incorporate charades into a cross examination. He was renowned for both his crisp courtroom objections and vivid storytelling abilities. He’s a pianist, French aficionado, and fry-chef extraordinaire. When he wasn’t leaving the jury in awe with a mean and clean opening statement, you could find Caleb working as an assistant in microbiology research or looking for a decent deep fryer on campus.
Kate Farwell ’21
A Cali queen and the literal personification of girl power, Kate Farwell took Brown Mock Trial by storm. A national debate champion turned mock trial star, Kate won not one but two (count ‘em) attorney awards in her freshman year. She moved juries to tears with her acting skills and struck fear in the hearts of any opposing counsel. She might be a Disney princess based on her unbelievable voice, assortment of animal friends, and heart of gold. What is certain is that the only thing sharper than this girl’s eyeliner is her killer cross.
Cotter McCarthy ’21
A Hingham, Massachusetts native, Cotter was a sweet but fiery mock powerhouse. Cotter dominates in the courtroom and on the water. After all, the only thing cooler than giving multiple statements as a freshman attorney is holding a Guinness world record for waterskiing behind a crew boat. As if that wasn’t cool enough, Cotter’s also fluent in three languages: Spanish, Midlands Rules of Evidence, and Hamilton lyrics. Whether it’s because he’s so multitalented or just an awesome guy, you’d be hard-pressed to find Cotter without a smile at any time: unless his captain mispronounces his last name during trial.
Class of 2020
Nupur Bahl ’20
Though Nupur said she came to Brown from Illinois, we think she might be from heaven because the girl was an absolute blessing. She was humble about her endless list of accomplishments, cooking skills, art abilities, and humor. You’d never hear her brag about being a badminton champion, even though no one hits the birdie quite Nupur she does. She has an intense passion for helping people and hopes to go into biomedical law one law. She filled all of our lives with joy and incredible stories of her past – like the one time she tricked a hotel into letting her stay in a Penthouse suite for free.
Olivia Bowen ’20
Olivia grew up in Rhode Island, so she had to move a whopping TEN miles when she came to Brown. But luckily, despite the absolutely massive distance between Providence and her hometown Barrington, the transition to college was a piece of cake for Olivia. Why? She was renowned around these parts for her countless successes. Varsity debate. High school mock star. Host to a German exchange student. Most thoughtful person alive. These are just a few of the titles Olivia can claim. She’s also known for her interest in political science, her deep passion for Scrubs, and her fear that bees are dying at an alarming rate.
Fabrice Guyot-Sionnest ’20
Having grown up in a UChicago dorm, Fabrice was a college student for practically all of his life, which means he was definitely better at college than you are. At Brown, he wasn’t afraid to shed his high school passions: moving people to tears with his piano and flute skills, romancing lasses with his French language skills, saving the world through (Model) UN, and training to be the next Michael Phelps. He focused on pursuing a career in public policy and being the best at everything he did. He won awards as a witness, been named the most attractive freshman on Men’s Crew, invented better ways to carry a backpack, and lost his bike more than anyone on campus.
Julie Mendoza ’20
Julie “Miss Edinburg” Mendoza was a proud Texan and, you guessed it, a former beauty queen. Whether she was in a ball gown or a suit, Julie knew how to slay. On the stage, she was a force to be reckoned with, and you could bet your tiara she’d crush you in heels higher than Einstein’s IQ if you came between her and her crown. In academics, she had no rival; she was even named sophomore of the year back in 2013. In extracurriculars? Yeah, she was still slaying. Julie was a national champion cheerleader, a terrifyingly good attorney, and the cutest witness you’ve ever seen. Oh, and did we mention she responded “YASSSSSS” when she found out she got on the team?
Sarah Shapiro ’20
Sarah Shapiro came to Brown from the quaint suburb of Sharon, Massachusetts. This future lawyer did Mock Trial in high school for three years and delivered punch-you-in-the-gut closing statements as soon as she got to Brown. Outside of the courtroom, she danced circles around her peers figuratively and literally; Sarah is a jaw-droppingly talented dancer. To add to her interminable list of accomplishments, this fearsome ballerina is also fluent in French and, naturally, was asked to prom while in Paris. If you ever felt overwhelmed by how perfect Sarah was, there is solace; she once set off the fire alarm in her apartment while boiling a pot of water.
Class of 2019
Samantha (Sam) Kiernan ’19
Sam may be from the state of Connecticut, but you’d only ever hear her talk about Ireland or New York. At Brown, she studied International Relations with a regional focus on China. When she wasn’t struggling to learn Mandarin or practice her Spanish, she dreamt of making a “difference in the world” while working within the constraints of government bureaucracy. Hey, a kid can dream, right? But we think with Sam, her dreams might not be so far-fetched – did we mention she worked with the former Prime Minister of Ireland and at the US Mission the UN in Geneva?
Patrick Wu ’19
Hailing from Georgia, Patrick was a transfer student from Yale-NUS College and a man of many talents. Though you’d never hear him brag, Patrick was an incredible attorney, a stellar witness, and a generally competent human being. His studies took him from France to Singapore to the nation’s capital (not to mention the greatest and smallest state in the Union). But don’t be intimidated by his intellect – he also had a great sense of humor, killer dance moves, and the patience to explain the logical implications of your own argument. At the end of the day, Patrick enjoyed the simple things in life: bicycling, logic puzzles, and devoting his life to securing world peace, in addition to single-handedly creating a comprehensive theory of moral philosophy.
